Basic / Beginner Basic / Beginner classes will introduce you to the yoga practice with special attention to your body’s alignment, breath, and safety. You will become familiar with the fundamental standing, seated, and balancing poses, and learn about the physical and mental effects yoga has on your body, mind and breath.
Basic Mixed (Mixed Level) Basic Mixed continues students desiring to evolve their Hatha yoga practice once they are familiar with the fundamentals. Includes core postures, breath work, relaxation techniques, some supported inversions, and backbends.
Community Class (Donation Based) Community Yoga is a class designed to be accessible to all. We create the space for the integration of body, mind, and spirit. The 45 minute class incorporates different aspects of asana (postures) as well as pranayama (breath work) and meditation. This class is donation based. The suggested donation is $10 a class. Suggested donation means if you can put $10 in the box, please do. If you are not in a position to do so, contribute what you can. Nobody will be keeping track of individual donations. The donation class is one of the ways we make yoga accessible to everyone in our community.
Gentle Gentle Yoga is a class structured around rejuvenating and healing the body. Yoga props such as blankets, blocks, bolsters, chairs and straps are often used for safe practice, and to allow the body to fully achieve each position comfortably. This is a great class for seniors or yoga students with limited mobility.
Healthy Back Unravel your back pain at its root in this class designed with your back in mind. Strengthen and stretch your way to a healthy spine. Build core strength to support the lower back. Release stress and tension from the mid and upper back.
Pilates Yoga Fusion Experience a dynamic blend of Yoga with Pilates core work. Follow your breath with this core workout designed to increase strength, flexibility, improve posture, reduce stress and transform your body.
Slow Flow Challenging but slower flowing with fewer postures than a regular Vinyasa flow class, more emphasis on alignment, breath and foundation tools of a yoga practice.
Yin Yin works to slowly stretch the connective tissues that may be hindering our full flexibility. Concentrates on shoulders, hips, lower back and pelvis to open up the joints. Poses are generally done on the floor and held for 3-5 minutes.
Yoga for Stress This class focuses on transforming stress symptoms and anxiety by teaching you how to effectively calm your mind through your body. This organization of practices can help you better cope with anxiety by training your body to relax and teaching your body and mind to better manage stress. This class is accessible to everyone regardless of your level of flexibility or experience.
Recommended for Intermediate or Advanced
Ashtanga In Ashtanga (Short Form) you will move through a specific series of yoga poses that synchronize the movement with the breath. The breath and movement produce an internal heat that helps improve circulation, produce a strong body and a calm mind. This class is appropriate for students of all levels.
Basic Mixed Core Fusion (Includes Use of ActivMotion Bar) Bala Yoga is the first and only yoga studio in the country to offer this one-of-kind class in partnership with Derek Mikulski, creator of the ActivMotion Bar. The Basic Mixed Core Fusion Class incorporates the ActivMotion Bar and provides a unique yoga practice that teaches proper methods of facilitating core strength and stability with static and dynamic postures and also supports more difficult poses and unveils a new experience in the yoga flow.
Vinyasa In this athletic style of yoga, the students will flow through a variety of poses connecting the breath and movement. Each class varies in poses and pace. Having some yoga knowledge or experience is preferred but not necessary.
Individual Class A private class allows for a more intimate view into your practice. You can start a new practice, deepen your practice or spend some time working with an injury or condition. When you work with a teacher one on one, the teacher is able to help you experience the benefits of yoga in a safe, protected way. Private Yoga is an invaluable tool for beginners to advanced students. Private lessons provide the perfect setting to address your goals and work on areas for the individual. We can also develop a home practice tailored to your specific needs. Please call for individual classes and prices. Pelvic Floor Yoga can also be scheduled as a private class.
